Insurance write-offs

Write-off car buyers in Slough

Has your insurer declared your car a write-off? We help owners in Slough and across east Berkshire and south Bucks pass on written-off cars quickly and properly.

A car is written off when repairs would cost more than it’s worth, or when it can’t be put back on the road economically. Its parts and materials can still be worth something.

Write-off categories

What the category on your car means

Insurers put written-off cars into one of four categories, depending on the damage.

  1. 01

    Category A

Damage so severe the car can't be repaired. The whole vehicle has to be destroyed.

  2. 02

    Category B

Major damage, and the body shell can never safely go back on the road, though some parts can be recovered.

  3. 03

    Category S

Structural damage that can be repaired professionally, after which the car can return to the road.

  4. 04

    Category N

Damage that isn't structural, such as electrical, cosmetic or mechanical problems.

What will I get for my car?

That depends on the make, model, age and condition. Send us the registration and postcode and our team will come back to you with a valuation.

Is there anything to pay?

No. Collection is free, there are no admin charges, nothing hidden, and nothing to pay if you decide not to go ahead.

Some parts are missing from the car. Does that matter?

Quotes assume the car is complete. If parts have been taken off, the valuer may need to change the price, and you're free to say no if you'd rather not go ahead.

Who sends me the Certificate of Destruction?

The Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) that scraps the car sends it straight to you. When it arrives, let DVLA know.
